Administration Clerk: Student and Finance

TEE College offers certificate, diploma and bachelor programmes in theological education for the support of Christian ministry. 

JOB PURPOSE 
Based in Brackenhurst, Alberton, Theological Education by Extension College (TEEC) is looking to appoint an Administration Clerk: Student and Finance.

As a member of the College’s administration team this role is responsible for processing student applications and related financial transactions; assisting in the management of student data and records (including resolving ad hoc requests and queries); and providing logistical and administrative support to the College’s administration department and the College’s finance department.

CRITERIA FOR THE POSITION

Education and experience:
  • Matric with English at Matric Home Language level.
  • Post Matric qualification in bookkeeping, business administration or accounting.
  • 2 to 3 years’ experience in customer services in education, student administration or bookkeeping environment.
  • Debtors experience would be an advantage.
Knowledge, skills and personal attributes:
  • Good, demonstrable Microsoft applications skills, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Evidence of experience in data capturing on a recognised systems database.
  • Basic procurement policies and systems applicable to an organisation.
  • Basic bookkeeping knowledge.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in business English.
  • Conversational skills in at least two other South African languages.
  • Atention to detail especially regarding documents and record keeping.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Work collegially and in a team.
  • Embrace the Christian ethos and Biblical principles of the College and its partner Christian churches.

JOB PURPOSE 
TEE College is looking to strengthen the Board of Directors and expand the capacity of our Board by appointing two non-executive directors.

As a member of our board, you will play a key role in guiding the strategic direction, upholding our values and ethos of equipping people for Christian service through accessible, contextual, and ecumenical theological education by extension.

Volunteering to serve on the Board as a non-executive director enables you to contribute your leadership experience to an institution rooted in the Christian faith with a strong history of partnerships with its founding and participating churches, collaborate with fellow board members committed to educational excellence and ministry formation and play a vital role in maintaining our College’s reputation.

CRITERIA FOR THE POSITION

Roles and responsibilities:
  • Governance of the College in line with the legal and governance requirements and duties of Directors.
  • Contribute actively to strategic and organisational planning ensuring strong fiduciary oversight and resource management.
  • Participate in board committees and the work of the Board in its policy and oversight role of the College.
  • Review annual financial statements and reports.
  • Participate in Board development to ensure effective strategic oversight.
  • Bring personal and professional skills, relationships and knowledge to the Board for the advancement of the College, its students and its stakeholders.

Qualifications and requirements:

The ideal candidate must hold a tertiary qualification in either:

  • Commerce, economics, accounting, social work, education, community development, organisational development, education, theological education or related fields.

Qualifying experience includes:

  • Sound working knowledge of director’s legal duties and corporate governance in a not-for-profit organisation or similar for-profit organisation.
  • Experience in advocacy, stakeholder engagement and external communications, ideally with an entrepreneurial orientation.
  • Significant leadership experience at an institutional level.
  • Experience in a tertiary educational institution and / or a medium-sized not-for-profit organisation.
  • A person with the leadership attributes to be a resourceful advocate of Christian theological education by extension, and the College, and who is dedicated to preserving our heritage while thoughtfully navigating future opportunities.
